Vermont Department of Environmental
Conservation Grants
The Vermont Agency of Natural Resources - Department of Environmental Conservation - Water Quality Division conducts the Vermont Aquatic Nuisance Control Grant-in-Aid Program in which the Lake Parker Association has participated for 21 years. This is the program that provides funds for us to run our weed harvesting machine and, more recently, to compensate us for the volunteer time spent searching the lake for infestations of Eurasian Watermilfoil.
This organization also provided funds for our
Re-vegetation Grant as a result of our Watershed Survey.
The VT-DEC, as a partner in the Conservation Plate and Better Back Roads programs,  provides technical assistance and acts as the grant administrator for these grants.

Vermont Conservation Plate Grants
The conservation license plate dollars you provide enable the Fish &
Wildlife Department’s Non-game and Natural Heritage Program to:
Improve and protect nesting sites for endangered loons, peregrine falcons and other birds
Inventory a wide array of species including bluebirds, turtles and butterflies
Learn about natural communities and species that are not hunted or fished resulting in information for management and local planning.

Your conservation plate dollars will also help provide grants to
community groups and local governments for Vermont watershed
projects. Projects may include:
Monitoring and improving water quality in lakes, ponds and rivers
Protecting and improving fish and wildlife and wildlife habitat
Protection of streambanks and lake shorelines.

Vermont Better Backroads Program
Clean Water You Can Afford

Vermont Better Backroads promotes the use of erosion control and maintenance techniques that save money while protecting and enhancing Vermont's lakes and streams. Begun in 1994, the program is a collaborative effort of many organizations interested in town financial health and clean water. One half of the funds available to the Betterback Roads program is provided by the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources via U.S. EPA Section 319 grants. The other half is provided for in Vermont State budget through allocations to the Vermont Local Roads Program. Program partners include the Vermont Local Roads Program, Northern Vermont and George D. Aiken Resource Conservation and Development Councils, Vermont Agency of Natural Resources - Water Quality Division, Regional Planning Commissions, Vermont Association of Conservation Districts, Vermont Agency of Transportation, Natural Resource Conservation Service, Vermont Department of Public Safety, US Environmental Protection Agency, Vermont Lake Associations and the Association of Vermont Conservation Commissions.

Note: BBR Grant funds go to the Town of Glover not to the Lake Parker Association.
