On Friday, June 1st, 2001 the Lake Parker Association hosted one of six field trips held around the state as part of the 8th annual conference of the New England Chapter of the North American Lake Management Society (NEC-NALMS). These conferences are held in rotation in each of the six new England states to provide a public forum for discussion of lakes, ponds, reservoirs, and watershed issues.
The NEC-NALMS conferences are designed for all citizens interested in lake and watershed topics. This year was the first time Vermont has hosted the NEC-NALMS Conference and we were proud to play a part in its success. Representatives from several New England States and other Vermont lakes and towns traveled here to attend a presentation on our lake protection work and to view some of our project sites. We were honored to have Glover Town Officials and many of our friends and neighbors attend as well. Once again many thanks to all the LPA volunteers who consistently come forward to contribute the considerable amounts of time and effort required to make events like this happen. Special thanks go out to Glenn Barber and John and Lynn Washburn for transporting the attendees to and from Montpelier and to Ron and Madeleine Ducham for opening their camp to us for the event. The beautiful day and the great setting at camp 66 together with Ron and Madeleine's hospitality combined to make a special warm and friendly atmosphere in which the attendees were inspired to increase efforts to protect the lakes and ponds in their home states.
